What is Path to Glory About?

This is a narrative version of Age of Sigmar. While it's nice to win, what we hope you'll get out of path to glory is a chance to start small, grow an army, and tell a story.

🔆
The story is as least as important as the winning.

What rules is the Path to Glory using?

All games are played with the Core & Advanced rules 2025-2026. The battlepack and rules governing the campaign are found in Games Workshop's Ravaged Coast book. If you haven't got a copy many people at the club do, so ask on the Path to Glory What's App group which can be joined via this page.

We also have a campaign pack, and a pack for our launch event.

What’s the best way to organise my games?

We’re planning on having a kick off event in November, where you should get two or hopefully three games to start off your path to glory. After that games can be arranged on club nights using the club's Path to Glory WhatsApp group.

How will we keep track of how everyone is getting on?

Hopefully everyone will be able to use this website to tell us all about their battles, and the development of their army.

Can I join later on?

Absolutely. If you can’t make the kick off event, make up an army and join when you can.

Can I have more than one army in the campaign

Yes. Have as many armies as you like.

What about conversions / proxies / 3D printed models.

These are welcome at the club so, if the model’s on its official-sized base, and your opponent knows what the models represent, then feel free to get creative!

What are the painting requirements?

There aren't any. While it's great to see fully painted armies facing each other on the table, the goal here is to tell stories and let people build an army. As long at it's clear what your models represent and they're on the right size bases, paint is encouraged but options.

How many total spells and prayers can my army have?

There is a limit of 6 total spells and prayers (including spells and prayers that summon manifestations). It's possible to replace spells and prayers if you've run out of space and would prefer something else.

How long will this campaign last?

As long as players are interested. We will review engagement throughout and towards the endgame stage announce a dramatic conclusion….

Can I use an Army of Renown instead of a regular battle formation?

You can pick an Army of Renown when picking your faction. If you do so, you must use its rules rather than the rules for the faction. You can still include a Ravaged Coast Regiment of Renown even if the roster options do not allow it, but you cannot include any other units that are not listed in the roster options. Units in the Ravaged Coast Regiment of Renown do not gain your Army of Renown’s keyword.

Which warscrolls should be used for generic manifestations?

Use the warscrolls from the current (2025-6) General’s Handbook. Note that manifestations don’t cost points in Path to Glory, but the spells to summon them are enhancements (which can be acquired using emberstone) which count against the total of 6 items you can put in your Arcane Tome

How should I set up terrain for a path to glory game?

Unliked matched play, there aren’t any standard terrain layouts for PtG. You have three options

  1. Pick or randomly select on of the terrain layouts from the current General’s Handbook
  2. Before choosing table sides, roll off, with the winner going first. Each player takes turns placing a piece of terrain and setting whether it’s cover, obscuring etc.
  3. Roll off. The winner chooses who sets out the terrain. The player who does not set out the terrain choses which deployment zone to take.

What are the Path to Glory Gotchas?

There are a handful of things which are different to matched play, and may be different to other Path to Glory campaigns you may have played.

  • In this version of Path to Glory, the number of turns in a game isn’t fixed. See Battle Length in the battlepack (page 36 in the Ravaged Coast book). At the end of round 4, roll a dice. On a roll of 1 or 2 the battle ends. Else play round 5 then roll another dice. The battle ends on a roll of 1 to 4 inclusive. Else play a 6th round. If you make it to the end of round 6, the battle ends.
  • As having units destroyed can have longer term consequences for your army, you have the option to run away. If, in your hero phase, at least half your units have been destroyed you can declare withdrawal. Your remaining units are removed from the table, but do not count as being destroyed. Your opponent may play out the battle unopposed if there are things they still need to do - such as collecting emberstone tokens.
  • All Out Attack works differently on the Ravaged Coast. A unit which declared an all out attack gets +1 on it’s hit rolls, but also gives +1 to hit rolls for attacks that target that unit for the rest of the phase. That’s on top of the -1 to save for the rest of the turn they get from the base ability as described in the Commands advanced rules.
  • The underdog is determined differently than in matched play. See the rules on page 33 of the Ravaged Coast book. If there is no underdog you roll off to determine a player to act as the underdog when using the twist table.

I'm playing in this campaign - how do I share my battles on this website?

  1. You'll need to provide an email address to Andrew Cook, who will set you up as contributor, and then give you a tag for your army.
  2. You can create posts to record your battles.

What tags should I use when I write about my army on the website?

Tags help to sort posts, and the order is important:

  1. Put your army tag first.
  2. Put the sort of event you're writing about second. Eg for a battle report, use Battle Report. If it's backstory for your army use Backstory. If it's something more generic about your army, and out of character, use Army.
  3. Then list tags for other armies involved in the post.

So, for example, a report written by the Ember-Warp Conclave player about a battle with the Flayful Disciples might be tagged Ember-Warp Conclave, Battle Report, Flayful Disciples.
